.CA Domains how do they work?

.CA – Introduced 1987 is a Top-Level domain that is mainly used by Canadian residents only. Some large corporations who operate within the boarders of Canada will use the .ca equivalent to their .com (Eg: AaronTechDesign.com and AaronTechDesign.ca). For the person trying to register a .ca top-level domain they will have to meet the requirements of: being a Canadian citizen and of the age of majority, or a legally recognized Canadian organization. Foreign resident of Canada, if they are holding a registered trademark in Canada. The .ca top-level domain operates only within Canada in a restricted status. as per the regulations set forth in the CIRA (Canadian Internet Registration Authority), a non-profit Canadian corporation.

The first .ca domain was registered by the University of Prince Edward Island in January 1988.
